Schoutenstraat 4, Utrecht
Ballpark Store Utrecht is located in a 17th century National Monument. The building is made up of several parts from different periods. The front section was build in the middle ages and used to be one single transverse house together with the front section of Schoutenstraat 2. The back house is even older and extends behind the shallow neighbouring building.
The front of the building features large windows and a characteristic old door that let in a lot of light to the front of the store. The backroom is enriched with a fireplace, a large window and a spiral staircase which create the feeling of a warm and cozy sitting room.
Underneath the ground floor there are a total of 4 barrel vault cellars, 3 of which are part of Schoutenstraat 4. From the street you can access 2 of these in the form of Jet & de Juffrouw, and the third can be found on the other side of our store through the courtyard and runs parallel to the street.
During it's long and rich history, the building has been used as both living quarters and as a store. In the last 80 years, we know it has been used by an antique dealer, a jeweler and the last few years it has already been a clothing store but for women.
As an homage to the store's past, the large clock on it's façade will remain as well as the spiral staircase in the backroom. You will also find a nod to our store in Weesp in the form of a kitchen island.
